At freestyle.ch the world’s best snowboarders, freeskiers, FMX pilots and skateboarders fight for the
«freestyle.champ» titles. For them there’s not only news when it comes down to the Big Air, but also news concerning the mode: For the first time qualification contests in all disciplines will be held with half the riders on Friday and the other half on Saturday. For spectators this means they may be in to see stars like Sandro Dias already on Friday.
Snowboard
Who will present the best show on the new 8 m higher high Big Air snow ramp? In the qualifications on Friday and Saturday 28 snowboarders participate – among them «freestyle.champ 07» Stephan «Mu» Maurer and X-Games winner Andreas Wiig (SWE). The top eight qualify for the finals and superfinals on Sunday.

Freeski
The Big Air is also the freeskier’s playground. With fat spins and tricks in the qualification on Friday and Saturday 28 riders will try to get one of the eight starting places for the finals on Sunday. It remains to be seen what kind of tricks stars like Jon Olsson (SWE) and the Andreas Hatveit (NOR) show to get into the final round of the fight for the «freestyle.champ».
In the fight for the «freestyle.champ» snowboarders and freeeskier will have to show style and technical jumps at the qualification and final contests. The difference between the rating categories «style» and «technical» is especially the different weighing of the rating criteria. Within «technical» the priority lies on the trick’s level of difficulty. The criterion «style» will be disregarded entirely. The criterion STYLE will obtain first priority in the category «style» in which the trick’s level of difficulty is weighted least.
FMX
The bad boys of the freestyle circus will also be present on the Landiwiese. On Friday and Saturday stars like Thomas Pagès (FRA) will fight in the qualifications for one of the six starting place in Sunday’s Final. Will Swiss top star Mat Rebeaud win the FMX «freestyle.champ» title for forth time in a row?
Skateboard
The skateboarders will go off in the new kingsize halfpipe. On Friday and Saturday 12 riders fight in the qualification for one of he eight starting places for the final on Sunday. «freestyle.champ» becomes, who jumps via a 30 minutes session into the superfinal and there shows the best mix of high and stylish airs and technical tricks.
«The Ultimate Crossover Session»
When snowboarders, freeskiers, FMX pilots und skateboarders spin through one airspace and show their most awesome tricks over the Landiwiese «The Ultimate Crossover Session» is in action. freestyle.ch’s highlight which embodies its spirit. Eight riders of each discipline fight for the title of the «crossover.champ». Currently the snowboarders do have it in their ranks thanks to Simon Dumont – before the skaters got it. Which freestyle sports athlete will have the honor to be carried through the crowd on the litter and be celebrated «crossover.champ» this year? Maybe Mat Rebeaud, who doesn’t have this specific title in his collection yet?
Newcomer Award
For the first time four snowboarders and four freeskiers are invited as newcomers to freestyle.ch – thanks to Raiffeisen, the biggest snowboard talent sponsor. The categories’ high-flyer will win the newcomer award and with it a 50 g Raiffeisen gold bar worth CHF 1500.–.
SHIT HAPPENS!-Award
The Last will be the First. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Even more so when it comes to the SHIT HAPPENS!-Award which focuses on mischances happening in the contests. MobiJeunes, Mobiliar’s youth insurance, presents the contests’ most awesome mishaps and slams. They belong to freestyle.ch just as the perfectly done and sticked tricks. MobiJeunes shows a cut-together of the mishaps of the day in advance. On Sunday evening a jury chooses the winner SHIT HAPPENS! Awards 2008 winner. An award which stands for bravery and the ability to laugh about the own bruises.
Last year’s SHIT HAPPENS!-Award went to Christian Bieri (SUI) .
